Residency Education

Welcome to the Indiana University Department of Ob/Gyn Residency Program website.  Indiana University has one of the largest and most diverse residency programs in the Midwest and we are excited to show you everything we have to offer.

The residency program began in 1946.  In 1996, the Indiana University School of Medicine OBGYN residency merged with the residency program at Methodist Hospital to form the current program with 10 residents per year.

Our program combines the strength of a large thriving academic medical center with a large private community hospital in downtown Indianapolis.  Additionally, our residents have the opportunity and privilege to care for the underserved population in Indianapolis while rotating at Eskenazi Health Center (formerly known as Wishard).  This diverse group of experiences while serving the three hospitals allows our residents to be prepared for any opportunity available after finishing residency training.

In the Department of Ob/Gyn at Indiana University, education comes first.  We are committed to constant growth and innovation to improve your educational experience.  Our faculty are dedicated to providing an excellent educational experience that will provide a solid foundation for our graduates allowing them to pursue whatever career path they choose; private practice, academic generalist, or subspecialty training.   Our goal is to provide the best training for each resident regardless of their chosen career path.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have regarding our program!
