General OB/GYN

The Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology consists of over 20 specialists in obstetrics and gynecology, committed to providing the best possible care to women, advancing our state of knowledge in women's health care and teaching these advances to the next generation of dedicated professionals.

Tripartite Mission

The Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology is actively involved in each of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology's clinical, research, and educational missions, striving to bring evidenced-based, compassionate, quality care to the women of Indiana and beyond.

Members of the Team

Clinical Service

The division offers a full range of diagnostic and treatment options for the women of Indiana.  Members of the Division provide gynecologic and obstetric care in over 20 different centers in locations from community health center clinics to offices in the department's core hospitals. Care is provided either directly by faculty or through supervision of resident physicians.

The Division provides in-depth exposure to all aspects of the field of obstetrics and gynecology.  Residents gain significant ambulatory and inpatient experience in the evaluation and treatment of depth and breadth of the care of women through rotations at Indiana University Hospital, Methodist Hospital and Eskenazi Hospital.  From primary care to complex obstetrical problems, this experience mirrors that of the obstetrician and gyecologist in practice.

The Division is involved in on-going clinical research.  Examples of research efforts include studies of genetics and pharmacology, personalized medicine in pregnancy, prevention of pre-term birth, patient-physician communication and shared decision making and health care delivery and teaching methods.  Research performed by members of this Division has garnered several prestigious national awards in the past year alone.
